Membranes Processes as Best Available Techniques (BAT) in Pulp & Paper Industry
Maria Norberta de Pinho is a Chemical Engineer (University of Porto), and has a PhD in Chemical Engineering(ChE),University of Florida ,U.S.A.. She has been a ChE Professor at the Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST), University of Lisboa and is now Professor Jubilado/CeFEMA (IST) Researcher. She has been teaching and coordinating research on Fluid Dynamics, Heat & Mass Transfer, Design & Engineering of Separations and Membrane Processes in Water (drinking water & industrial water re-use), Food (dairy ,wine &beverages), Pulp&Paper and Chemical Industries, Biorefinery (water& valuable products recovery) and Medical Devices. She has been the supervisor of 30 MSc thesis and 20 PhD dissertations. Researcher/Coordinator of 30 projects sponsored by Portuguese Science Foundation (Hemocompatible Nanostructured Membranes for Artificial Organs) and by the European Community. She has been member of European Network of Excellence, NanoMemPro , and of CYTED Iberian-American Network “AQUAMEMTEC “. She is co-author of 200 publications and sub-task leader in IETS Task “Membrane Processes in Biorefineries”.
